What is veterinary medicine?

Veterinary medicine is a branch of science, in which various types of diseases are treated in animals and birds. This is similar to human medical science. Because their primary objective is to prevent, eradicate diseases and give healthy life to biological organisms.

What to do to become a veterinarian?

• To become a veterinarian, you must obtain a Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Science.

• After that, specialization will have to be obtained in veterinary science to become DM or any special veterinary doctor.

• The duty of the veterinarian is to take care of the animal for immunity by doing vaccination and checkup.

• Examining animals, performing surgery on their wounds.

• Providing emergency care and euthanasia of animals.

• Pet therapists are usually found in private hospitals, and provide treatment to cats, dogs, birds, etc.

• Cattle Animal Veterinarians make cattle owners aware about animal food and other health practices to deal with diseases and injuries in animals like sheep and goats.

• Research veterinarians are involved in research into new diagnostic and surgical techniques.

• Equine veterinarians provide treatment for horses.

• Food Safety and Inspection Veterinarians generally conduct research to find prevention of animal diseases that can be transmitted between animals and humans.

How to become a veterinary doctor in India :

Every country has its own medically recognized board of physicians. If you want to become a veterinarian in India, then keep the following things in mind.

• To get admission in Bachelor degree in Veterinary Science in leading universities and colleges in India, one has to pass All India Pre-Veterinary Test (AIPVT) examination.

• Bachelor of Veterinary Science degree is necessary to make a career as a veterinary doctor in India.

• To become a certified veterinarian, after having a Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Science, you will have to further study MD or any specialization in Veterinary Science.

Qualification :

• To become a veterinary doctor, a candidate must have passed class 12 from a recognized university with at least 50% marks.

• To become a veterinary doctor, one has to clear NEET UG or AIPVT exam. Many colleges conduct their own entrance examinations.

• The minimum age of the candidate at the time of taking admission in veterinary college should be between 17 years to maximum 25 years.

Veterinary doctor salary :

The salary of a veterinary doctor ranges from Rs 70,000 per month to Rs 90,000 per month (veterinary doctor per month salary).
